Population 500,000 in Sudan (1983 Bender). Population total both countries 502,000.
Region Northern Sudan, Dar Fur. Also spoken in Chad.

Comments Largely uniform with some dialect differences. Those in urban situations are shifting to Arabic. SOV. Mountains, foothills, lowland. Agriculturalists: millet, sorghum, peanuts, vegetables, spices, fruit; cattle. Muslim.
