SIL Language Software 1.0 Plus

SIL Language Software 1.0 Plus is an updated set of 4 CD-ROMs that combines 18 computer programs and reference resources developed for use by language and culture learners and field researchers. The suite includes LinguaLinks Library, LinguaLinks Workshops, and the software contained on SIL Language Freeware Disc 1 and SIL Language Freeware Disc 2.

Current users of SIL Language Software may contact the International Academic Bookstore for a new key or for a recommendation about which Freeware disks to order or download.

• LinguaLinks Library
  Provides information, instructions, training, and advice. Contains the entire contents of 223 journal issues, 149 online books, glossaries, bibliographies, and other reference resources. Includes useful computer applications for language learning and literacy.

• SIL FieldWorks
  A suite of software tools to help language teams manage language and cultural data, with support for complex scripts.

• LinguaLinks Workshops
  Workshops is an older software tool that is not Unicode-aware or networkable. We strongly recommend that you use SIL FieldWorks for new language projects and consider exporting any language data already in LinguaLinks Workshops into SIL FieldWorks Language Explorer.

• Language data management and analysis software
  SIL Language Software 1.0 and the individual subsets include several stand-alone programs. Some carry out auxiliary functions. Others are supplemental resources for language workers.

• Fonts and other resources
  Fonts, keyboards, mapping files, resources to help convert from legacy encodings to Unicode, and some useful software utilities for conversion to Unicode.

  The software contained on the SIL Language Freeware disks is copyrighted by SIL, but may be freely copied and shared. By using these files you agree to comply with the terms in the SIL Language Freeware End User License Agreement. Because this license is granted to the user for no cost, the user is not entitled to free technical support from SIL. Technical support for LinguaLinks Library and LinguaLinks Workshops remains the same—see your software documentation for details.
